Elizabeth is the founder of The Foot Care Consultancy Ltd, and The College of Foot Care Practitioners based in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

With 10 years teaching and training experience, and 15 years experience of lower limb and foot care, Elizabeth is passionate about improving clients understanding of the importance of protecting their feet, through regular foot care and the right foot wear.

Elizabeth has also written several books on foot care and its importance.

Every time your foot hits the floor when walking it is the equivalent of twice your body weight passing through them. As we walk roughly 18,000 steps a day, and therefore about 70,000 miles in a lifetime – (that’s approximately four times around the earth), our feet are under a lot of pressure.

Feet have around 250,000 sweat glands releasing about a quarter pint of perspiration every day.

As adults we have 26 bones per foot, 19 muscles, 100 ligaments and tendons, and over 72,000 nerve endings.

We walk and stand on hard, unnatural surfaces like pavements and floors and then wonder why occasionally our bodies complain. We have only one pair of feet and they take us everywhere – yet often they are the least cared for part of our body.

70% of foot problems come from wearing the wrong footwear or ill-fitting shoes. This leads to in excess of £30 million per year being spent on chiropody services.

Once our feet are hurting most of us have no idea how to eliminate the pain. If the condition is left untreated it can lead to long term problems. Many foot problems are the result of misalignment between bones, joints and the muscles of the foot.

Conditions such as flat foot, over pronation, persistent ankle sprains, bunions, corns, callouses, plantar fasciitis, and even pain in knees, hips, back and shoulders, can all stem from misalignment in the feet and/or poor ill-fitting footwear.
